Matt is an experienced business and legal advisor who excels at counseling clients through high stakes intellectual property disputes. He represents national and international companies in a variety of matters but focuses on intellectual property litigation and related issues. Matt roots his counsel in the day-to-day business realities his clients face, offering strategic advice throughout the litigation process and counseling on non-litigation business strategies. With a background in physics, Matt’s experience translates to a wide range of technologies, including electrical engineering, computer hardware and software, telecommunications, mechanical devices, and consumer products.
In addition to his extensive state and federal court experience, Matt handles International Trade Commission matters as well as appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Whether representing a technology start-up company or a Fortune 500 company, Matt works closely with clients to understand their objectives and tailor his counsel to their particular needs.
Matt is also registered with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office and has handled numerous petitions for inter partes review and responses covering a wide range of technologies.
Matt is registered to practice in California and Colorado and is an Irish Solicitor. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Physics as well as a law degree with honors from the University of California at Berkeley. Before joining private practice, Matt served as a law clerk to Judge Marilyn Hall Patel of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
