David Laliberté is a corporate lawyer with more than 20 years of experience across the technology, media, and telecommunications industries. Throughout his career, he has held
legal and leadership positions at Dentons, Baker & McKenzie, Rogers Communications,
BlackBerry and Microsoft. Until 2016, David served as Director of Intellectual Property Policy
at Microsoft in Redmond, Washington, where he was responsible for driving the company’s
IP strategy, positioning, and engagement in several jurisdictions, including Europe, India and
Canada. As General Counsel of Legal Affairs for Digital 14, he is responsible for the
day-to-day management of the legal department and for developing and implementing
Digital 14’s corporate IP strategy.
David received his Bachelor of Arts (BA), with honors, in Public Policy and Administration
from York University. He went on to earn his Juris Doctorate (JD) in Law and Masters of
Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Ottawa.
In his spare time, David is involved in community organizations, particularly as Chairman of
the Canadian Business Council in Abu Dhabi. He co-founded a boutique venture capital
fund in Canada and is an angel investor and mentor to several tech startups in Canada, the
US and the UAE. He also enjoys golfing, skiing and cooking French food.
