In addition to working with Fortune 500 clients, Barrett has extensive experience helping startups develop world class patent portfolios to position their company for venture capital financing, acquisition, and IPO. Barrett has served as a virtual in-house counsel and advisory board member of a startup, advising on the strategic direction of their IP portfolio and other IP-related activities, including licensing and technology transactions.
Prior to founding his current firm in 2013, Barrett was a partner at an intellectual property boutique specializing in patent development and enforcement. Barrett received his B.E. in Electrical Engineering from Vanderbilt University and his J.D. from Florida State University, where he was Executive Editor of The Florida State University Business Law
Review and a member of the Journal of Land Use and Environmental Law. He was selected to the 2019 Texas Rising Stars List.
