Avinav is an IP professional with over 10 years of experience across various in-house IP roles with focus on IP research and analytics. Having been part of and also in charge of different in-house IP teams, Avinav has handled multi-dimensional intellectual property related aspects that demand solutions in a corporate environment- from technology profiling and road-mapping to IP harvesting and generation, IP maintenance and auditing, IP Enforcement, and Technology transfer and licensing.


He specializes in topics related to Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and Industry 4.0, Advanced Digital Manufacturing and MRO (maintenance, repairs and operations), Digital Twins and Digital Thread, Industrial blockchain implementation,  3D printing, smart wireless sensor networks, AI/ML in industrial applications and smart factory solutions .


Prior to Airbus, Avinav was leading the IP team at Thermax, an Indian energy and environment engineering company with a global presence across 30 countries and 14 manufacturing facilities across India, Indonesia, Denmark, and Poland.  At Thermax, he led the IP research and analytics activities for Smart Industrial Controllers, Industrial Cloud Solutions, Thermally Activated Cooling, Air Pollution Handling Equipment, Clean Coal-to-gas Technologies, Waste Water Handling Systems, Solar Energy systems, Fuel Cells, Industrial Boilers and Absorption Chillers. He has also led the IP team of an Indian IT and communications tech start-up, where he worked on video technologies like AR/VR, motion sensing & image processing engines, data encryption, free space optical communication and data transmission using Extremely High Frequency (EHF) band.


Avinav has a Master’s Degree in Software Systems Engineering with specialization in Embedded Systems from BITS Pilani (India) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science &Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University (Karnataka, India).  Avinav also has professional certificates in Software Licensing from World Intellectual Property Organization (Geneva), Innovation Management from IBMI (Berlin) and Patent Engineering from GIIP (India).

Avinav strives to constantly study, explore, try, test and implement new ways of leveraging the implications and impact of Intellectual Property on business sustainability, technology development and benefit to the society at large.
