Andrew B. Schwaab focuses his practice on strategic intellectual property matters, including counseling, global patent prosecution, patent litigation, licensing, validity and infringement analyses/opinions, due diligence, and freedom-to-operate issues. With more than 20 years of experience, Andrew handles matters related to a wide range of electrical and computer technologies.

Andrew is currently the president of the Silicon Valley Intellectual Property Law Association, and is a recent past president of the San Francisco Intellectual Property Law Association. He also serves as Vice-Chair of the CNIPA (Chinese Patent & Trademark Office)/U.S. Bar Liaison Council and is involved in several other professional organizations, such as IEEE.

Andrew has practiced in the San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley since 1999. After graduating from the University of Virginia with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering (Electro-Physics), he worked with an IP law firm for several years in Washington, D.C., first as a professional IP/patent searcher, and then as a patent prosecution specialist, earning his registration as a U.S. Patent Agent in 1994.

Andrew represents a balanced group of clients, from Fortune 50 Companies down through startups. His practice in Silicon Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area has included emphasis in technology areas such as computer systems and memory, software (from apps to global enterprise platforms), semiconductor fabrication equipment, processes and devices, cryptography, digital rights management and blockchain, internet and other network enabled/related applications, renewable energies, energy collection and conversion, optical networks and components, flat panel displays, global navigation and positioning systems, and semiconductor nanofabrication and other nanotechnologies, among others.
